Never a dull moment for childcare industry

Hundreds of child care providers gather in Queensland to discuss the industry’s future

Australia‘s largest long day care conference

Swine flu, closures, regulations, national standards, kindergartens, funding and the lack of funding have all made headlines coupled with child care in the last 12 months.

It has been a turbulent 12 months for the child care industry and the next 12 months are expected to be extremely challenging.

Hundreds of child care providers from Queensland and across Australia will gather this weekend to discuss the changes that are forecast for the future of this important industry that underpins the workforce.

The Childcare Queensland Conference is being held at Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast from Friday 24 July to Sunday 26 July.

The largest gathering of child care providers in Australia has been organised by Childcare Queensland, Australia’s largest state organisation with over 800 members and arguably the country’s most proactive child care body.

Childcare Queensland’s President Gwynn Bridge says that the annual conference is an opportunity for providers to get together and discuss the changes in the sector that ultimately will impact on parents who use child care.

“Childcare Queensland has come has become a leader in the field and consults regularly with governments at all levels,” Ms Bridge said.

“We take a proactive approach and ensure that we keep government informed as to the current status of the child care sector and the impact that decisions will have on families.

“Child care can be an emotional subject on which most people have an opinion.

“We pride ourselves on how we approach and work with the community, media and government to ensure the best outcome for all parties.”

The Childcare Queensland Annual Conference will welcome over 400 members and delegates from across Australia and a full house of industry supporters and suppliers.

“This conference is the peak of the year’s events and it allows providers to mix with each other and discuss how the industry can continually improve on its current high standards,” Ms Bridge said.

Childcare Queensland is Australia’s largest state child care organisation with a membership of over 800 long day care centres, caring for 110,000 children, communicating with over 200,000 parents and representing 15,000 staff.
