Exciting news! Childcare Queensland has taken the step of introducing Early Childhood Educator’s Day for our 
members. On this day we anticipate that the work of our valuable educators will be validated and acknowledged by children, employers and families – and any others who wish to say “Thank you for choosing the early years as your profession.
Thank you for your dedication to the children, their families and your position. We appreciate your efforts and the importance of the work that you do”. So often we, licensees, parents and communities are so overwhelmed by our own work days that we don’t stop to thank the dedicated educators who provide care and early learning to so many children across our long day care sector.
With enormous change confronting the sector, Childcare Queensland believes that it is time to work together as a cohesive team, educators, families and management to ensure a sustainable early year’s sector long into the future. We can do this together, as a strong team with strong networks held together by the knowledge and appreciation of what each of us contributes to the team.
Our children love a celebration and how much more will they love to celebrate a special day for the very special persons in their lives, their educators.
We do hope that this is a day that encourages laughter and joy, encourages our educators to reflect on the importance of their work but most of all brings a realisation to each educator that they are truly molding the future citizens of the world community and just how important the role that each plays in this huge assignment. Educators you are true stars and on the 9th of September, this is your “red carpet” day.
This year Childcare Queensland is concentrating on our members to input this day onto the annual calendar of events – and it will be celebrated on the second Friday in spring of each year. We do hope that all Educators in a variety of services will join in and participate in a celebration in their services. In 2012 our plan is to take Early Childhood Educator’s Day national and bring an Australia wide awareness to and acknowledgement of the importance of the profession and each and every educator.
